The public has very much spoken and it likes this game. Dungeon Keeper, in contrast, has 108 reviews and is rated at 3 Stars. Flappy Bird has almost 10,000 reviews and is rated by the App Store at 4 stars. Flappy Bird is more popular than games with huge intellectual property behind them, likeĭespicable Me: Minion Rush or games by long-standing expert publishers like Sonic Dash. But it’s not: Flappy Bird is sitting at number one in the charts. Flappy Bird could be a fine example of a developer still honing their craft and still better than anything most critics could develop in Objective-C. If it weren’t so popular this wouldn’t be an issue. Make no mistake Flappy Bird is a terrible, terrible piece of software. The game is repetitive, bland and mediocre. It’s hard to imagine a designer choosing a worse font for the Flappy Bird logo: officially it is known asĠ4B_19 and is like Comic Sans without the self referential irony. Pipes are from Super Mario Bros., the background is a static city made of, what looks like, clip art. The ground is a rolling two-tone green barbershop pole the The Start and Score buttons look like Flash-era web graphics. The Flappy Bird has three frames of animation to complete the retro-gaming effect. The visuals are low-resolution and of low quality, the Flappy Bird itself is a yellow ball with giant red lips and a single cyclops eye. Actually calling it “poor” is being kind, it’s impoverished to the level of the I guess the main one would be that it’s technically and graphically poor. There are numerous downsides to Flappy Bird. It does have banner ads but they’re not especially intrusive. It is free to download and it isn’t trying to constantly shake you down via in-app purchases. So it’s ideal for those brief moments on the tube, or between classes or meetings. Not many but we should outline them: it is surprisingly addictive instant death games are quick to play and a typical game for us lasts around 10 seconds. On the other hand Game Centre is packed full of people with 9,999 pipes, which we assume is the limit of the game’s counter. Our Flappy Bird record stands at 19 pipes we imagine many people give up after hitting the first few pipes. The distance between pipes is narrow, and your control over the Flappy Bird is clumsy and imprecise.

Airofit Pro: getting better, one breath at a time And can we please request the Airofit PRO 2 to be USB-C compatible? Much appreciated. Best would be if the charging port would be on the outside of the unit so I didn't have to fiddle around with removal in the first place. That said, I wish the head unit had some protruding bits or rubber inserts so it's easier to grab and remove. Once you get the hang of it, though, the removal process is not terribly hard to perform. I was concerned that if I squeezed it too much the whole thing might break. The head unit is made of the same material as the rest of the device and has very little grip. I did have some trouble taking off the head unit so I can charge it. They explained that the reason why the device uses these materials is that all plastic needs to be medically certified – it goes in your mouth, after all – so they can't apply any coating to it to make it look fancier. However, my mind was quickly put to ease by the wonderful peeps over at Airofit. The all-plastic construction didn't radiate a sense of quality and the unit was comparatively light too, an unfortunate combination when it comes to value perception. My initial impression of the Airofit PRO was that it looked way cheaper than a device someone has to pay over £300. (Image credit: Matt Kollat) Airofit Pro: first impressions Here is where you can perform an ad hoc 'lung test', too, something you should do daily before your daily sessions to see how you progress. These lung workouts can help you increase respiratory strength, anaerobic threshold, and more. In the app, you can set your goals – general wellbeing or sport – and the app will recommend daily workouts accordingly.Īs well as these, you can also find a bunch of different exercises under the 'Discover' tab. The magic happens in the Airofit app: this is where you'll find the exercises and instructions on how to perform them. It's a simple and straightforward device as to how it should be. There is no display on the Airofit PRO itself it's only the on/off button that provides feedback of what's happening (it blinks when it's charged or turned on). The Airofit PRO connects to your phone via Bluetooth. There is also a rubber mouthpiece – this goes in your mouth – and a head unit that sends the data to your phone where it gets analysed. There are two dials at each side, controlling the amount of air the Airofit PRO lets in and out. The Airofit PRO is a small breathing device that controls and measures how much air enters and leaves your lungs. Airofit Pro: what is it and how does it work |
